VISION STATEMENT

To serve as a positive, collaborative, efficient, resourceful, member of the campus team regarding the                     evaluation/identification of students meeting the eligibility criteria for Assistive Technology services while assuring the abundance of technological instructional resources reaches classroom teachers for implementation in fostering student success.

What is Assistive Technology?

According to the United States Assistive Technology Act of 1998, assistive technology (also called adaptive technology) refers to any "product, device, or equipment, whether acquired commercially, modified or customized, that is used to maintain, increase, or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities."

Assistive technology is a generic term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices and the process used in selecting, locating, and using them. AT promotes greater independence for people with disabilities by enabling them to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing enhancements to or changed methods of interacting with the technology needed to accomplish such tasks.
